Rigid Body Displacements in Local Co-ordinates.

    Good morning,

I have a time series of displacements in the local co-ordinates of a sensor that I would like to apply to a rigid body.

I note that loads and moments can be applied to the local co-ordinates (rather than the global co-ordinates) of a rigid body using the follower options - is there a straightforward way to do this with displacements without preprocessing outside of FEBio (e.g. using quaternions to keep track of the orientation of the rigid body over time then using that to convert the displacements to the global co-ordinates)?

    Thanks,

    Rowan

    Hi Rowan,

Unfortunately, that is not possible. Rigid body displacements (and rotations) are always defined with respect to the global coordinate system.
