    Obtaining normals for Nodal foce

    Hi,

I am trying to use a nodal force in my model. Since I want to apply the load perpendicular to the surface, I need to know the normal value at that node and then decompose the load based on the normal vector to x,y,z directions. My question is that is there any way in FEBio to find the normal value for a specific node/facet on the model?

    Thanks

    Hi,

I don't think there is any way to extract normals from nodes (or facets) in FEBioStudio. You can grab the nodal coordinates from a node and its neighbor nodes and then calculate the normal vector from that.

    Cheers,

      Hi Steve,

Thank you for your quick reply. I will try it. Would it be possible to add such a feature to FEBioStudio, in the future?

        Hi Lyra,

Yes, we can definitely look into that. Please make a feature request for this on the Project's forum so it will stay on our radar.

        Thanks,
