    Creating a "planar surface"?

    Dear all,

Sorry about asking such a naive question. I did go through the manual, and did not find the answer, though the question seems really easy.

In Prof. Ateshian's post "Axisymmetric Analysis in FEBio" he mentioned about creating a "planar surface". My question is: can I do that in PreView? And if yes, how?

    Thanks!

    Hi Shawn,

Under the Create menu select Patch.

    Best,

        2D patch Boundary Conditions

        Dear Professors,

I wander if the fluid mechanics module is developed to allow user to use boundary conditions in a patch. For instance, Prescribed fluid dilation at the curves.
I am having troubles making the patch work. I do the same for the 3D and it works but not for the patch 2D.
And i guess i could also ask. How are the elements of the patch considered?

        Thank you!
        Roxana

          Hi Roxana,

The fluid mechanics module is only for 3D geometries. If you need to simulate a 2D patch, you need to create a slab (a single layer of 3D elements).

          Gerard
