I'm not sure where the original files went, but I've created a new tied contact example and attached it. Please take a look and let us know if you have any questions.
I am trying to run this simple tied contact model, but FEBio keeps crashing. I simply save and run the model. Is there something I need to do or I didn't do it that caused this problem? I am using FEBio studio version 1.0.0
It looks like there is an issue with the default launch configuration in the newly released version of FEBio Studio (at least on Windows). If you open the run dialog, and click on the icon next to the Launch configuration selection, you'll get a new dialog box where you can edit the launch configurations. Select the first one, and make sure the path to the executable reads: $(FEBioDir)\febio3.exe. Let me know if that fixes it.

I followed what you just mentioned above, and FEBio still crashed. In the launch configuration box, I chose "local" in the launch type. In the executable reads, I initially had it as "$(FEBioStudioDir)/febio3" without .exe. I therefore changed it to "$(FEBioStudioDir)/febio3.exe", but still had the same problem. Just to let you know, I use MacBook, and I guess it is not only an issue with Windows as you mentioned.
Oh, I assumed you were using Windows. If it's a mac problem, I'm not sure what the issue could be. I'll forward this issue to our mac developer. Maybe he can offer some input.

I'm unable to replicate this issue on a Mac with a fresh installation of FEBioStudio. I was able to open the tied_contact.feb file that is attached here, and I was able to successfully run the simulation with the default launch configuration. (As an aside, you should change your launch configuration back to "$(FEBioStudioDir)/febio3" since you are on a Mac).
What kind of error message are you getting when you attempt to run it? Is it just FEBio that is crashing, or is all of FEBio Studio crashing?
when I have tied contact in my model, the whole FEBio studio crashes. At first, I thought the issue is from penalty factor, but that was not really the problem. I also tried to run another tied biphasic model, and FEBio crashed again. I will try to reinstall FEBio studio and see if that fixes the problem.
The version of MacOS I am using is MacOS Catalina version 10.15.3.
