    Two Block Compression

    Hi,
I've just started using Preview and I tried to go through the example on two block compression (co35), however when i run the simulation in postview the top block simply moves upwards (in the positive z-direction) instead of compressing the bottom block. How do I set the boundary condition to make the block move in the negative z-direction?

    Thanks,
    Hugh

    Hi Hugh,

You must either change the scale factor of the displacement from 1.0 to a negative value. (Right-click on the prescribed displacement in the Model Viewer and select Properties. There you can edit the scale factor). Alternatively, you can modify the load curve associated with this BC. (Open the curve editor and find the displacement BC. The default curve will ramp from 0 to 1, so you have to modify the second point to have a negative value.) Keep in mind that the actual displacement is the product of the load curve value and the scale factor. Hope this helps.

    Cheers,

    Steve.
