Need help in constraining the meniscus of the knee.

    Hi
I am a postgraduate student. I was trying to run a model of knee. I used springs to constrain the meniscus horns, but I failed to converge at the time when the femoral cartilage and the meniscus were just in contact, as negative jacobian is detected.
But if I constrained one the of face of the horns in vertical direction(Y direction) , it worked. But this is not the method other researchers used.
I have attached the picture of my model. I can't upload the model in this forum. If someone is interesting, just give me your email, I will send the model to you. Thanks.

    Regards
    Albert

    Hi Albert,

It is not easy to diagnose your problem with the information provided. Have you tried varying the spring stiffness by an order of magnitude up or down to see if that improves/worsens the convergence?

    Best,

    Gerard

      Hi Gerard,

I have tried but it still didn't work. When I used another knee model with the same settings, it worked.

      Albert
