Relative strain no longer displayed in newest release

    Hello,

I really liked that PostView displayed strain relative to the earliest time step imported. For example, if I imported steps 5 and 10 of a 10 step analysis, the strains in step 5 would display as nearly 0, and the strains in step 10 would show the strain that occurred between steps 5 and 10.

In the newest release (2.3), this is no longer a feature. Strain is always displayed relative to time = 0, regardless of which steps I import into PostView. Is there any way to display relative strains other than reverting back to a previous version of PostView?

    Thanks,

    Stephen

    Hi Stephen,

It looks like that feature was indeed not ported to the new PostView version. I will look into adding that back soon. I can probably get this done by the end of the week. I'll keep you posted.

        Hi Steve,

As far as I can tell, this feature was not added to any subsequent PostView builds? Do you still plan to add it in?

        Thanks,
        Stephen

I just saw that this feature was added in as an option for version 2.4.1 ! Awesome, thanks!

            Hi Stephen,

Have you tried our latest release (PostView 2.4.1)? If I load a model that has 10 states and only import states 5-10, then indeed, the strain is relative to time 0. However, if I go to the DataPanel, select e.g. Lagrange Strain, and set the reference state to 1, the strain will be relative to the first imported state (i.e. state 5). Please give this a try and let me know if that works for you as expected.

            Cheers,

            Steve

Sorry, I tried to edit my original message (saying that the feature had not yet been added) before you saw it, but I was too late. Yes, this is a great feature. Thanks for adding it!
