Source terms to connect 1D and 3D models

Hello! We are in the initial stages of trying to plan a 1D computational model of a vascular network coupled with a 3D biphasic model. Rather than meshing the interfaces of where the vascular network inputs into our 3D model, we are hoping to build in source/body force terms driven by the 1D model that can change the input flow rates and pressures. Is this possible?

Yes, there are already some implementations in place for 1D computational models of vascular networks that have been coupled with fluid, fluid-FSI and biphasic-FSI solvers. For example, see the description of the Fluid RCR outflow condition. Is this what you have in mind?
