Tensile Test of Two Part Material

    hi,
I am attempting to perform a tensile test of a two part material made out of 2 boxes. I would like for the 2 boxes to remain joined together permanently throughout the tensile test so that when a displacement or load is applied to the upper box (box2), the lower box (box1) is pulled along with it. My end goal is to test the effect of having different material properties in these boxes. I tried to join the 2 boxes using a tied or tied biphasic contact. Once the the displacement is initiated, the 2 boxes experience stress but subsequently 'break apart'.
any help would be appreciated. thank you!

Ok, I figured out I had to turn autopenalty on under properties for the tied or tied biphasic contact.
