    Modifying geometry

In preview, there are 7 simple geometies you can create.
Is there any way to modify the geometry?
For example, introducing surface roughness on top surface of a box geometry.

I was thinking of modifying the ".feb" file after creating a box in Preview. For exmaple, add some extra nodes, giving their co-ordinates manually.
However, I have no idea what I can do for "Elements" part of the codes.

I attach a file, which contains my naive modification try. (I only added two extra nodes, 9 and 10. )

Furthermore, if you can modify the geometry, can I still view it in Preview?

    With many thanks,
    Joanne

    Hi Joanne,

Could you explain a bit more "introducing surface roughness". I'm not sure I understand what you are trying to do.

PreView can read FEBio input files (From the File/Import menu). So you can edit your files manually and then import them again in PreView.

    Cheers,

      Dear Steve

By the "surface roughness" I mean :

bumpy or spiky surface rather than a smooth(no asperity) surface

Please refer to the attached file, which has a simple side view of the geometry. (Hope this really helps. ^^)

Explaning what I am trying to model is :
when you coat something, the coated surface might be really smooth if a precipitation method is used, but it might be rough if a paint brush is used to coat the surface.

I really hope it become clearer now.

      With many thanks
      Joanne

        Hi Joanne,

I think I undestand now. However, I'm not really sure on how to do this in an easy way. In PreView you can select and move nodes individually. So, what I would suggest is instead of inserting nodes, just make a finer mesh and move the nodes yourself. Again, not an easy approach, but the only one I can think of. Hope this helps.

        Cheers,

        Steve.
